In a dramatic turn of events, Pune police have solved the chilling murder of 21-year-old engineering student Bhagyashree Sude, whose lifeless body was found under mysterious circumstances. The breakthrough in the case came when investigators successfully traced the killers through a ransom message that had been sent to the victim’s family. This incident has shocked the local community and left many questioning the rising crime rates in the city.
The Mystery Unfolds
On the morning of 15th August 2025, Bhagyashree’s family received a disturbing call demanding a large ransom for her safe release. The caller claimed that Bhagyashree had been kidnapped and that the family must pay a hefty amount for her return. But, soon after, the victim’s body was found in an abandoned building in the outskirts of Pune. Her hands were tied, and she had been brutally murdered. This left the family and police officers in a state of confusion, as the kidnappers had already killed her, even after making the ransom demand.
Tracing the Ransom Message
The breakthrough in the investigation came through the ransom message sent to the victim’s family. According to police sources, the message was written in a very specific manner, and certain details mentioned in it raised suspicions. The police, after analyzing the digital trail, found a clue that led them to a mobile number connected to the message. The phone number was registered to a man who was previously involved in minor criminal activities but had kept a low profile for some time.
Using this lead, Pune’s cybercrime department worked tirelessly to track the location of the phone. After hours of tracking, it was found that the phone was used near the scene of the crime just hours before the body was discovered. Police then proceeded with a more focused investigation and uncovered shocking details that led them to the real killers.
The Killers Revealed
Through further investigation, it was discovered that the culprits were not strangers, but individuals from Bhagyashree’s own circle. The main accused, identified as 23-year-old Ankit Verma, was a fellow engineering student at the same college. It was revealed that Bhagyashree and Ankit had been in a secret relationship for several months, which had caused tensions within their respective social circles. Ankit, along with two accomplices, allegedly hatched a plan to extort money from Bhagyashree’s family by faking a kidnapping.
However, things took a violent turn when Bhagyashree decided to break off the relationship and exposed the plan to her friends. Fearing the consequences, Ankit and his associates decided to silence her permanently. The ransom demand was merely a tactic to confuse the authorities and buy them time. Tragically, they went ahead with their plan and killed Bhagyashree, dumping her body in the deserted location.
The Arrest and Aftermath
Following a series of raids and intense interrogation, the police arrested Ankit and his two accomplices. They were charged with murder, kidnapping, and extortion. Pune police commissioner, Sanjay Yadav, expressed his satisfaction with the investigation’s outcome and praised the efforts of the cybercrime unit in tracking the perpetrators through digital evidence. He assured the public that they were taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of citizens in Pune.
The case has left a dark mark on Pune, known for its educational institutions and vibrant youth culture. Students and locals are now demanding more stringent security measures and better monitoring of criminal activities, especially when it comes to students. Social media platforms and community forums have been buzzing with discussions about the tragic incident, with many expressing their condolences and concerns about safety.
